UC Davis Equine Medicine Symposium Optimizing Your Horses’ Performance March 9, 2013

Tentative Schedule of Events:

  • 7:30am-8:30am – Registration in Gladys Valley Hall
  • 8:30am-9:10am – Lecture 1: Acupuncture and Chiropractic with Dr. Sarah le Jeune DVM. DACVS, DECVS, CVA
  • 9:20am-10:00am – Lecture 2: Equine Nutrition with Dr. Joie Watson DVM, PhD
  • 10:10am-10:30am – Question and Answer Round 1
  • 10:40am-11:20am – Lecture 3: Vaccination for the Travelling Horse with Dr. Krista Estell DVM
  • 11:30am-12:10pm – Lecture 4: Equine Behavior with Dr. Jeannine Berger DVM, DACVB
  • 12:20pm-12:45pm – Question and Answer Round 2
  • 12:45pm-1:30pm – Lunch and Raffle1:45pm-3:45pm – Rotating Wetlabs

This Year’s Wetlab Topics:

  • Hoof anatomy and how it relates to soundness and performance!
  • Body Condition Scoring – Learn how to determine your horse’s body condition score, how to estimate weight with a weight tape, and how to palpate for regions of fat!
  • Worm Control – Learn about potential equine intestinal parasites, how to diagnose them, and what you can do to keep their numbers under control!

This year’s event also includes:

  • A wide assortment of booths held by our generous sponsors!
  • We apologize that there will be no continuing education credits for this event.

Registration fee includes attendance at all lectures, wetlabs, access to raffle and booths, and lunch (vegetarian option available). Due to concerns of having an appropriate amount of food available for attendees, we have decided to implement a discount for pre-registration.
