2023 CDS Adult Amateur Clinic Applications

Attention all East Bay Members! The 2023 CDS Adult Amateur Clinic is coming up soon!

The goal of the CDS Amateur Clinic is to provide an opportunity for adult amateurs to receive instruction from eminent clinicians who might not otherwise be available to them.

To ensure fairness, the selection of our East Bay Chapter participant will be made by random draw among interested riders from our membership. The Clinic consists of an evening lecture followed by two full days of riding clinic.

This year the clinician is Melissa Creswick! View Official Event Flyer Here!

Because of our unique location between the North and Central Chapters, our rider may choose to attend either the Central or Northern Region’s event:

Central – March 24-26 MVS (San Luis Obispo)

North – April 28-30 Starr Vaughn (Elk Grove)

To apply for a clinic spot, please send a brief biography with a short paragraph why you would like to participate in the AA Clinic.
Application deadline: March 3rd
Drawing & Notification: March 5th

The AA Clinic Committee will draw a winner and two alternatives. If the winner is unable to attend the clinic, the spot goes to the second alternate, and so on.

If needed, subsequent drawing selections may be done.

Each applicant must be a CDS and East Bay member AT THE TIME of the drawing.

Rider Eligibility and Selection – Riders must be members in good standing of CDS and be Adult Amateurs 22 years or older. The same rider cannot ride in two consecutive yearly clinics. The riders must be able to walk/trot/canter with proper diagonals and leads (Training Level minimally). The rider, to be eligible, must have a sound, fit, and in good condition, familiar equine partner, presenting as a “horse/rider team”. They must be actively riding demonstrated by current dressage lessons with their horse for the past 6 months. A borrowed or loaned horse just for the occasion is not accepted. An application must be submitted. Please review the Standing Rules for more information.

Applicants agree to provide a one page write-up on their experience for publication on the East Bay Chapter’s website, social media, etc.

Applicants also agree to write a thank you note/recap to CDS immediately upon completion of the clinic.

Pleased send your application to Jan Bauman.

Any vacant spots for the clinics will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis from the waiting list by the Clinic Organizer, so reach out to the clinic organizer to be added to the list if you want to join, but are not our chapter winner.
