Biologics Zoom Wrap Up

We had a good turn out for our latest educational session with Starwood Equine Services. A huge thanks as always to the Starwood team and especially Michelle Laiolo-Dibble DVM for her presentation. We’ve already gotten some lovely thank you’s from viewers in our and other chapters that found this sessions extremely educational and helpful.

Questions asked by attendees after the session (included here for your interest in case you want some answers, go to the question session in the last 15 minutes of the video.

– What are the cost differences between these different modalities?
– Is there evidence /research for length of outcomes for the blood products e.g. how long the benefit of initial treatment lasts for pain relief, decreased inflammation, etc? Additionally, what is the indication for frequency of administration?
– Where does Arthrimid fit in?
– Does insurance cover Pro-Stride?
– Would you do a full work up first or just go with the owners I want this? How do you determine treatment plan?
– What about using Pro-Stride to get ahead of issues in a ten year old horse?
– Playing on that, would supplements help a sound horse? I have a 17 y o WB mare who is still blossoming and going strong. She has an excellent diet, mostly organic, and I do a lot of manual therapy including Bemer and laser. But I wonder if I should be supporting her with Adequan or some such…could you please speak about maintaining a horse to a long, happy career. My goal/dream is to finish her to Grand Prix.
